VLENDER

The aim of this project is to redesign an ordinary object improving the user experience and reducing carbon footprint. We analysed an old hand mixer to detect those parts that could be improved to meet the goals.

Hand mixer engine

To understand how an electronic item works, we need to know all the elements inside of it and how they interact with each other.

The best way to discover what composes a hand mixer is disassembling (not-working) one and identify which elements can be replaced or improved.

On the other hand, in order to understand the user’s needs, we carry out surveys where they evaluate their hand mixers and describe what problems they usually experience.

ideation

After learning from users’ feedback, we generated ideas focused on resolving the difficulties noted by the respondents.

This information, along with that from the environmental analysis, leads to a suggestion for a vertical, wireless mixer with space for the beaters.

prototyping

In order to verify the final idea, we realised a model made of cardboard with mobile parts simulating the interactive components. Five users were selected to test the prototype by recreating the preparation of a cake, which gave us an insight into how users would interact intuitively with the hand mixer.

Based on the conclusions of this practice, we defined the features of our product to solve the complications noted by those who tested it.

result

Once defined the product, we model in 3D every component to create a feasible hand mixer. The 3D model is rendered to present the final design and show the details that make the proposal innovative.

The transparent case provides a modern aesthetic and being dye-free makes it 100% recyclable, therefore, meets the objective of reducing environmental impact.
